Lance burton roller coaster escape5/26/2023 I know many people here are still theorising the many different methods that there are to produce a similar effect to the CD trick which Alan produced on the show. With all due respect Rob, by profession, if you have never told a 'lie', I would be quite surprised! I have issues with replies that call me a liar etc. The assistant wasn't called on stage until after he had put the blocks back in the bags, so she didn't get a close-up look, & we didn't see the back of the solid blocks. My simple theory is that the "solid" blocks all had holes, but were either covered in "wood effect" sticky backed plastic, or the hole was filled with a wood coloured filler. If you notice, after the trick, while talking to Ross, he keeps his thumb over the centre of the block & at one stage pushes the nail through the hole again, hiding the hole. We don't get to see the head of the second nail. As he opens the bag, he pushes the nail into the top of the block. The head of the nail could simply fall off (magnetic), or be made of rubber or paper.Īs Penn says, getting the nail back into the block was just a matter of grabbing the nail from under the table & hiding it in his hand. My guess is that he pulls the nail through the hole in the wood & lays it down in the bottom of the bag & there it stays, so none of the bags contain an upright nail. When he first puts the block of wood with the nail through it into the bag, he spends time "fiddling about".
